Due to issues of security, Myspace attempts to disable links to outside websites in Flash applications in Myspace profiles. We say attempts because in some cases the links work, and in some they don’t. For example, we’ve found that with Flash 8, the links work in IE7, but not in Firefox 1.5. We understand Myspace’s desire to keep its users safe from malicious applications that may be hiding in seemingly harmless places. But we also feel it unfairly punishes the makers of legitimate and safe apps and their own Myspace community who can’t use them.
We have a very basic workaround for the problem above. There’s a link that will launch tubesurfer in a separate window on Myspace. Click the link below tubesurfer and the widget is launched in a separate window. Popups must be enabled and you will have to click the back button in the main window to go back to your Myspace profile. We apologize for the inconvenience and maybe Myspace users can convince them to make a safe alternative exception for legitimate apps like the tubesurfer widget.
